PHOENIX — A motorcycle support ride will take place this weekend in memory of Amy Chervenak, the wife of a Maricopa County Sheriff deputy who was randomly killed in November.
Chervenak and her 11-year old daughter were run over by a driver while walking to their house from the mailbox. The daughter also suffered severe injuries as a result from the incident.
Chervenak was married to Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy Sgt. Steve Chervenak.
The motorcycle ride, which the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will be taking part in, will begin at the Desert Ridge Sandbar near Tatum Boulevard and the Loop 101 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
That event will be followed by a ride to The Hideaway Grill near Cave Creek Road and Viola Lane, where a charity raffle and auction will be held until 5:00 p.m.
It is sponsored by Ride AZ Promotions. A GoFundMe account has been set up for the benefit of the Chervenak family.
According to court documents, the driver responsible for Chervenak’s death, 45-year-old Trent Ferree, was drunk and said he actively targeting a random victim. He told police he ran over Chervenak multiple times to make sure she was dead.
Ferree also attempted to run over an elderly couple earlier in the day, according to reports. He is being held in a Maricopa County jail on $1 million bond.
