2 people in critical condition after collision in Phoenix

PHOENIX – Two people are in critical condition after a collision in Phoenix on Wednesday afternoon, according to police.
The crash involving two vehicles was reported shortly after 4 p.m. near the intersection of 27th and Highland avenues in Phoenix.
According to police, the drivers of the two vehicles — an 18-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman — were transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
A 36-year-old woman, 27-year-old man and 55-year-old man were also transported to local hospitals but were in stable condition.
Two of the five people involved in the crash had to be extricated from the vehicles, but police did not specify who.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.
