PHOENIX — People who were planning to head to Shakira’s February concert in Phoenix will have to clear another date on their calendars instead.
In a press release, Live Nation — the company putting on the show — said the singer’s doctors want to give her vocal cords more time to recover after one hemmoraged. Because of that, her Feb. 3 date has been rescheduled to Aug. 26.
“Though I very much hoped my vocal cords would recover in time to pick the tour back up in January, and after exploring many options to that effect, I have accepted that this is an injury that simply needs more time and care to heal,” the singer wrote on Twitter.
The show will still be held at Talking Stick Resort Arena in downtown Phoenix.
Tickets for the February show will be honored. Fans can also ask for a refund if they cannot make the new date.
Phoenix was far from the only show that had to be rescheduled. Her El Dorado World Tour was scheduled to begin in Germany in November, but dates in that country were pushed to June.
Her shows in the relatively nearby cities of Los Angeles and Las Vegas were rescheduled to Aug. 28 and Sept. 1.
