PHOENIX — Looking for a unique family outing this holiday season?
Southwest: The Magazine encouraged Arizonans to fly high and find new thrills above the Sonoran Desert this winter.
Literally.
The magazine listed Arizona Balloon Safaris as the can’t-miss event to do this winter. The magazine chose 17 winter travel destinations.
Here’s what the magazine had to say:
Arizona Balloon Safaris begin at dawn, but the views are worth the early wake-up call. Once airborne, the 20-passenger balloon (the largest in the country), rises up to 5,000 feet above the illuminated desert.
The magazine said customers will get views of Flagstaff of up to 130 miles away in the 45-minute flight. The experience concludes with a champagne brunch.
The Cave Creek business is offering a discount on its balloon tours. Tours are now $145 per person and customers can book a reservation one full year in advance.
Arizona Balloon Safaris Pilot Randy Long has logged more than 4,000 flights and is a certified flight instructor for powered parachutes with the Federal Aviation Administration.
