PHOENIX — A Phoenix police union needs your generosity for its annual “Shop with a Cop” event.

The Phoenix Law Enforcement Association is asking for the public’s help to collect donations for its seventh-annual event on Dec. 14.

The event will involve Phoenix police officers shopping alongside children, who are selected from around the Valley, for themselves and their families’ Christmas.

Phoenix Law Enforcement Association President Ken Crane said the organization is looking for financial donations for this year’s event, as well as Target gift card donations.

“We did put in for a grant that we did not receive this year,” Crane said. “We’re having to seek out donations to help make this event run.”

Crane said it takes a minimum of $10,000 to pull this event off each year.

“One of the easiest [ways] people can donate – if they want to – is just buy the gift cards and donate them to us. Then, we make sure the kids get them.”

You can donate through the association’s PayPal account or bring your donation to the association’s office at 1102 W. Adams St. in Phoenix.

Crane said donations will be accepted until the end of the day on Dec. 13.

All donations to the Phoenix Law Enforcement Association Charities are tax-deductible.
