These Arizona cities are among the most deadly in the nation

PHOENIX — Three major cities in Arizona have been ranked among the deadliest cities in the nation.

According to CBS News, Phoenix, Tucson and Mesa came in among the Top 60 cities in the U.S. for high murder rates.

The deadliest city in Arizona was Phoenix, which had a murder rate of 4.3 per every 100,000 people. The Arizona city tied for 37th-most deadly city in the U.S. with Prince George’s County, Maryland.

Tucson followed shortly behind, coming in at No. 43 in the country. The murder rate in the southern Arizona city was 3.8 per every 100,000 people.

The third-deadliest city in Arizona was Mesa, which had a murder rate of 1.9 per every 100,000 people. Mesa also tied with another city: El Paso, Texas also had a murder rate of 1.9 per 100,000.

But all of the Arizona cities that made the list fell well below the most deadly cities in the nation: St. Louis, Missouri, came in at No. 1, with a murder rate of 29.1 per 100,000.

Baltimore, Maryland, followed shortly behind, with a murder rate of 27.3 per 100,000. New Orleans, Detroit and Cleveland rounded out the top five most deadly cities in the U.S.
