PHOENIX — Your weekend was just planned: Pizza Hut began testing Tuesday a new service to deliver both wine and beer to its customers in Phoenix.
“We know that beer and wine go great with pizza and we’re uniquely positioned to deliver these given many of our restaurants already serve beer and wine,” Stacy Lynn Bourgeois, the chain’s director of brand marketing, said in an email.
Phoenix customers will be able to order six packs of either Budweiser, Bud Light, Shock Top or Four Peaks Kiltlifter beginning Tuesday. Wine orders — both single servings and full bottles — were scheduled to begin in January.
Pizza Hut said the alcohol orders would not add any extra time or delivery fees.
“When you combine that with our extensive network of delivery drivers, we’re excited to provide a unique and convenient experience for our customers,” Bourgeois said.
The adult beverages will be transported in a special cooler to ensure they’re delivered cold.
If the pilot program is successful, it may be rolled out nationwide. Pizza Hut said it would change the alcohol options in other cities to ensure some local flavors are available.
There was no timetable given for the program to be introduced to the rest of the country.
