PHOENIX — The Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix made a list of top museums in the United States.
The museum marked No. 19 on Trip Advisor’s top 25 list.
Located in north Phoenix off the Loop 101 and Tatum Boulevard, the museum features a 300-seat theater with an acoustically superb design.
The museum also displays a collection of more than 13,000 musical instruments, 6,000 of those on display at all times.
Other features of the museum include an Artist Gallery that displays instruments used by performers such as the John Lennon and Carlos Santana.
Guests can also play some of the instruments in the Experience Gallery part of the museum. The gallery also has an area for children, preschool to second grade, to play instruments and enjoy their own musical experience.
The other Arizona location on the list was the Sonora Desert Museum in Tuscon. They ranked one spot ahead of the Musical Instrument Museum at 18th place.
Taking the top three places on the list were the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, and the Art Institute of Chicago.
Trip Advisor ranked the Musical Instrument Museum 16th in 2015 and despite adding a new Country Music Award exhibit in 2016, the museum fell three spots in the latest ranking.
