PHOENIX — Valley art enthusiasts have something to look forward to in the coming weeks.

Two free art festivals are set to kick off in the coming weeks starting with the Fall Tempe Festival of the Arts this Friday.

The event, in its 49th year, runs Friday through Sunday in downtown Tempe on Mill Avenue between Third Street and University Drive.

The award-winning festival will feature about 350 artists that will showcase their work.

This year, artist Erin Curry, who is known for her ink pen drawings, will be featured at the event. She will be on hand all three days of the festival for meet and greets and to sell her work.

The festival will have plenty of live music and good food from food trucks such as the Maine Lobster Lady and the Crepe Club. A wine and beer garden will also be available.

At the Kids Block, children will have access to a hands-on exhibit that features chalk murals.

Next weekend, the Phoenix Festival of the Arts will open to the public from Dec. 8 – 10 at Hance Park near Central Avenue and Interstate 10.

About 150 art and food vendors will be on hand for the festival, which is celebrating its sixth year.

Muralist Hugo Medina, who is known for his metalwork and paintings, was also expected to attend the event.

The entertainment pavilion will feature art demonstrations, circus performances and dance ensembles. There will also be poets and choral groups who will entertain at the event.

We want to hear from you.
