PHOENIX – A mother and her three daughters were injured Monday morning after they were struck by a vehicle at a Phoenix intersection.
One of the daughters, a 7-year-old, was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. The 36-year-old mother and her 6-year-old and 11-year-old daughters were taken to the hospital for serious, but non life-threatening injuries.
Police say the family of four was in the crosswalk at the intersection of 19th and Campbell avenues when they were struck by an unidentified 22-year-old man driving a pickup truck.
According to police, the driver of the pickup said he did not see the family of four in the crosswalk when he was making a left turn at the intersection.
Police say the driver did stay on scene after the incident, but was later arrested after showing signs of impairment.
The intersection was closed for several hours following the incident, but has since been reopened.
