PHOENIX — The city’s annual holiday light parade was scheduled to brighten to the night Saturday in central Phoenix, rain or shine, organizers said.
The 31st consecutive parade will kick off at 7 p.m. at Central and Montebello avenues.
The 2-mile route ends at Seventh Street and Indian School Road.
Spectators could number into the 100,000 range. Parade watchers can bring lawn or camping chairs to make themselves comfortable. Coolers will also be allowed onto the site as long as they don’t contain alcoholic beverages or glass bottles.
Street parking around the Winter Nights, Dazzling Lights route will be available to anyone who gets there early enough. Spectators have been known to arrive to grab a spot three hours before the show.
However many crow onto the streets, they’ll get a view that should be free of umbrellas. The National Weather Service predicted a 20 percent chance of rain Saturday evening, with a low of 54 degrees.
A downloadable map includes restroom locations along the route, and the nearest light rail station.
Float fans can get a sneak preview of the parade entrants Friday evening at North Phoenix Baptist Church from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.
The church, one of the parade sponsors, is on Central Avenue near Bethany Home Road.
