Young woman dies, teen boy seriously hurt in north Phoenix car wreck

PHOENIX — A young woman was killed early Tuesday and a teenage boy seriously injured when a car smashed into a power pole in northwest Phoenix.
Sgt. Vince Lewis said the 18-year-old passenger was ejected from the car when it smashed into a light pole near Jomax Road and 67th Avenue around 1 a.m. Arianna Hinostosa died at the scene.
The 17-year-old boy who was driving was taken to a hospital in critical condition but he was expected to survive.
Authorities said Hinostosa wasn’t wearing a seat belt.
The intersection was closed for hours.
