A 48-year-old man on a bright yellow bicycle was shot and fatally wounded after an encounter with another bike rider. It was Saturday morning at about 9:30 on Oct. 7, 2017.

“Our victim, David Setterberg, was near the area of 25th Street and Indian School Road [when he was shot],” Phoenix Police Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said.

Rothschild said Setterberg encountered a man and woman riding a low-rider type bicycle. And for some reason, the man and Setterberg exchanged words.

“At some point, these two began to argue and the suspect took out a gun and shot Mr. Setterberg. Then they took his bike,” Rothschild said.

Next, an apparent argument inside a Phoenix grocery store turned into a parking lot shooting. On Sept. 26, 2017, two men and a woman walked in to the Food City at 51st Avenue and McDowell together.

“Because this is a weekday at 5 in the afternoon, there’s probably a lot of people out, coming home from work, doing their grocery shopping,” Rothschild said.

The two men got into an argument with two other male shoppers, then they all left.

A short time later, as the two shoppers were pulling out of the parking lot, they saw the men they argued with inside a black SUV next to them.

One of those men pulled out a gun and started firing, hitting and seriously injuring one of his targets.
