PHOENIX — Thursday is National Fast Food Day and, according to one publication, there is no better place to celebrate it than Phoenix, the nation’s top city for quick eats.

Food and Wine said the Valley of the Sun is the fast food capital of the United States because it offers some of the best chains from the East and West coasts and everything in between.

Lucky enough to live in Phoenix? These days, you can choose from any of the above, and then some. Chicken fingers from Raising Cane’s. Free peanuts at Five Guys. Detroit-style pizza at Jet’s. Those thin, crispy burgers from Steak ‘n Shake. Breakfast sandwiches at Dunkin’ Donuts. Tacos, Texas-style, at Fuzzy’s. Italian subs piled high with hot peppers at Potbelly. Avocado-topped burgers from that other California chain, Habit.

You name it, and Phoenix is eating it, every night of the week — sometimes all pretty much on the same street corner.

The magazine said a lot of chains were opting to move to Sun Belt cities, such as Phoenix, because so many people transplanted from other climates wanted a taste of home.

Last month, Business Insider said that, when Phoenicians head out to grab fast food, a majority of them will likely head to Chick-fil-A, the most-visited chain in Arizona.

Of course, those not wanting to actually drive to get their food can get it — well, at least McDonald’s — delivered under a Phoenix test program run through UberEats.

We want to hear from you.
