Missing Mesa teenager found, returns home to family

PHOENIX — A 13-year-old boy who went missing in Mesa over the weekend has been found safe, police said Monday.

Tyshon McKenzie had last been seen early Friday afternoon near Broadway and Dobson roads. He had left behind a note apologizing but didn’t say where he was going. Police considered him a runaway.
According to department spokeswoman Sgt. Diana Williams, McKenzie had never run away from home before. He left carrying a black backpack.
Police said he was back with his family.
