PHOENIX — We all know Halloween is the time of year for two things: Dressing up as your favorite character and eating lots of candy.
There are only so many hours to collect candy on Halloween night, so maximizing your candy-grabbing efficiency is highly recommended.
But residents in Phoenix and Mesa should count their lucky stars: The two Arizona cities were ranked among the best in the nation for trick-or-treating, according to Zillow.
Phoenix and Mesa were named as two of the best cities in the nation to trick-or-treat in because they have high home values, plenty of kids under 10-years-old and homes in close vicinity to one another — which means less walking (and more candy) for trick-or-treaters.
The real estate company also broke down the best neighborhoods within Phoenix and Mesa for trick-or-treating.
Maryvale in Phoenix came through as No. 1, followed by Laveen, Estrella, North Gateway and Encanto.
For Mesa, Stonegate Estates took the top spot, while Meridian Hills, Santa Rita Ranch, Mountain Ranch and Community Fiesta followed shortly behind.
However, neither Arizona city cracked the top 10. The cities that took home that honor were San Francisco, San Jose, Philadelphia, Long Beach, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Sacramento, Washington, D.C., Milwaukee and Seattle.
But according to WalletHub, a different Arizona city cracked the top 10 for Halloween: Gilbert ranked No. 10 on its list of best cities for Halloween.
While Gilbert was given low rankings for “Halloween fun” and “Halloween weather,” the Phoenix-area city was ranked No. 4 in the nation for “trick-or-treater friendliness.”
Several other Arizona cities ranked on WalletHub’s list, but significantly lower than Gilbert.
Chandler came in at No. 41, Mesa ranked at No. 47 and Phoenix at No. 51. Scottsdale and Tucson came back-to-back at Nos. 77 and 78, respectively.
But Glendale ranked the lowest on that list, coming in at 88th in the nation.
Phoenix has been on a hot streak among trick-or-treaters: The city was also ranked among the top 10 cities for trick-or-treating last year.
