A carousel in New York that inspired a time-traveling episode of The Twilight Zone has been given a makeover that was influenced by the television show, according to The Atlantic.
The carousel in Binghamton inspired “Walking Distance,” one of the most critically-acclaimed episodes of The Twilight Zone, according to the publication.
The episode involves an ad executive who visits his hometown in upstate New York in an effort to escape his stressful time in the city. During his visit, he encounters his 11-year-old self on the carousel and starts a journey to come to terms with his former innocence.
The carousel was recently due for restoration, but officials did not want to give it a typical makeover: No, it was given a Twilight Zone-themed makeover.
According to The Atlantic, the makeover included “striking paintings based on episodes of The Twilight Zone.”
