PHOENIX — A runway at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport has been scheduled for a weekslong closure beginning next Monday, officials said.

The north runway, one of three at the airport, will be shut down from Jan. 8 to Feb. 21 to replace pavement.

Flights will most likely be delayed by at least 30 minutes during maximum travel times — 7:30 a.m.-10 a.m. and 5 p.m.-8 p.m. An airport statement said airlines had been informed months ago to make adjustments.

The north runway (designated 8/26) was out of commission for a month in fall 2016 because of construction related to the modernization of Terminal 3.

The runway is over 11,000 feet long, the lengthiest at the airport, and 150 feet wide.

The latest closure will also increase traffic to some flight paths east and west of the airport’s center and around the south runways.

Flight path noise has been an issue for some residents in nearby neighborhoods.

Many earned a reprieve over the summer from the U.S. Court of Appeals, which overturned the Federal Aviation Administration’s 2014 rerouting of planes in and out of the airport.

Sky Harbor is the 10th-busiest airport for passenger traffic in North America, according to statistics from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
