PHOENIX — A stretch of a road in the Phoenix will close temporarily to allow for the construction of an interchange for the South Mountain Freeway.
Beginning Monday, Oct. 23, Elliot Road will close at 59th Avenue. It is expected to remain closed until March 2018.
The interchange is one of 13 that will be needed for the new stretch of the South Mountain Freeway, which is being extended from the southern portion of the Loop 202 to connect to the Interstate 10 in the West Valley. When completed, the Elliot Road construction will result in a 272-foot-long bridge over the freeway.
Local traffic will be diverted to Dobbins Road from 59th to 75th Avenues during the closure.
