PHOENIX — Both Phoenix and Tucson were among the top 25 cities for economic opportunity on a list compiled by the crowd-sourced review site Yelp.
Phoenix came in at No. 15 on the list, while Tucson was just a few spots behind at 21st.
The website said it released its inaugural economic outlook to show small businesses where they have the best likelihood of success.
“This program is an ongoing effort to surface insights from Yelp’s deep data stores to help businesses succeed and to arm policymakers with the information they need to make effective change that will boost local economies,” Yelp said in the study.
Yelp said it used several factors to determine the rankings, including a model that took into account the number of reviews a business received, how often people read the reviews and whether or not those businesses were still open.
The economic outlook included all industries.
Charlotte, North Carolina was the best place in the country for economic opportunity. It was followed by Jacksonville, Florida; Omaha, Nebraska; Orlando, Florida and Charleston, South Carolina.
Yelp also highlighted the top 50 neighborhoods for economic opportunity in the nation. No Arizona neighborhood made the cut.
