Lights festival outside of Phoenix to begin after being postponed in October

PHOENIX — After being postponed back in October, a highly anticipated lights festival in a southern Arizona city is set to get underway on Saturday.
Organizers of the Lights Fest in Florence ran into logistical challenges back in October, announcing the event was postponed until 2018.
The festival was scheduled for Oct. 21 at Country Thunder, an outdoor venue that typically hosts concerts and festivals.
In a statement, festival coordinators said, “While going through our final preparations and reviewing the permit status, it came to our attention that there are still some items that need finalized before the event can take place. We are working closely with city officials.”
Organizers had originally set the new date for Feb. 3, at the same place.
The festival, according to the website, described as an “experience where thousands of friends and families gather to listen to live music, fill up on yummy food, and light up life by sharing personal wishes, dreams and goals,”
“At the perfect moment, everyone ignites their personalized sky lanterns with Tiki torches and lets them take flight,” the website said. “It creates a surreal ambiance, where time slows down and your single flame rises and joins with thousands of others to light the sky.”
The Lights Fest is set to begin at 3 p.m. on Saturday, lasting until 8 p.m. More information including registration for the event can be found on the festival’s website.
