Four Arizona breweries win medals at Great American Beer Festival

PHOENIX — Four Arizona breweries walked away from the Great American Beer Festival — one of the largest such events in the nation — as winners.
According to the festival’s results page, one Arizona brewery took home a gold medal, another claimed a silver and the final two were awarded bronze.
Saddle Mountain Brewing Company, located near McDowell Road and Estrella Parkway in Goodyear, won the gold for its Taildragger’s Clan-Destine, a Scottish-style ale.
To say the staff was excited was an understatement. The brewery’s Facebook page has a handful of posts announcing the news, including a couple that use less-than-polite language.
“Still can’t believe it! Winning a gold-medal at the [Great American Beer Festival] is just unbelievably exciting,” one post read.
Pedal Haus Brewery, located near Fifth Street and Mill Avenue in Tempe, took the silver for its self-titled Pedal Haus Light Lager.
The two breweries that won bronze medals are both in Scottsdale.
Goldwater Brewing Company, located near Scottsdale and Osborn roads, was recognized for its Machine Gun Teddy, an American-style brown ale.
The brewery announced its win on Facebook.
“Taking home a bronze medal today for our Machine Gun Teddy Brown Ale at the Great American Beer Festival,” the post read. “We are beyond stoked!”
The final winning brewery was the Scottsdale Beer Company, located near the Loop 101 and Shea Boulevard. Its Cannonball Australian-Style Pale Ale took home the bronze.
