Two killed, three injured in two-vehicle accident in Tempe, police say

PHOENIX — Two people were killed and three more were injured, one seriously, following a car accident in Tempe on Monday, according to the Tempe Police Department.
Officials with the Tempe Police Department said at least five people were involved in the two-vehicle accident, which occurred in the area of Harvey Drive and Southern Avenue in Tempe around 8:30 p.m.
Three of the victims were trapped and needed to be removed from the vehicle. They were transported to a trauma center, according to a Tempe Fire Department spokesperson.
Another victim, who was not trapped, was also in critical condition and transported to a trauma center. The fifth victim had minor injuries.
The victims were identified Tuesday as 65-year-old Magdalena Zeitino and her 31-year-old son, Miguel.
Impairment was believed to be a factor in the crash.
