PHOENIX — Friday marked the first day of fall, but Phoenix has not gotten the message yet. Temperatures in the city are expected to climb toward the triple-digits this week, according to the National Weather Service.

Phoenix is expected to have a high of 89 degrees Fahrenheit on Tuesday, with a low around 66 degrees.

On Wednesday, Phoenix’s high will jump to 91 degrees, with a low around 68. There will also be a 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 a.m. and before 11 p.m. on Wednesday, according to NWS.

Thursday is expected to be a bright and sunny — and hot — day for Phoenix, with high temperatures near 94 degrees and lows around 72 degrees. On Friday, the temperatures in Phoenix will spike to 97 degrees, with a low temperature around 75 degrees.

The weekend will bring two days with highs of 98 degrees Fahrenheit to Phoenix, with low temperatures in the mid- to low-70s on both Saturday and Sunday. But the heat will not stop there: Monday’s high is also expected to be 98 degrees.

The news about the hotter weather came just days after recent study from YouGov found that 77 percent of people living in Phoenix “thoroughly enjoy the weather” during fall, ranking it as the best city in the nation for autumn.

But the warmer weather for Phoenix could continue well into the winter. The National Weather Service said Friday that Arizona residents should expect a dry, warm winter due to a moderate La Nina weather pattern.

We want to hear from you.
