KTAR’s Main Street Minute focuses on local businesses that are hiring, opening and hosting events across the community. These stories air each weekday on KTAR at 7:27 a.m.

• Chick-fil-A, Soldier Staffing and Chase are among the companies taking part in a job fair Monday in Phoenix. The event runs from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Hilton Phoenix Airport Hotel near 48th Street and University Drive.

• The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded nearly $10 million in grants to eight Arizona nonprofits, including the Valley’s United Methodist Outreach Ministries and Phoenix recovery center Community Bridges. The money will be used to help low-income veterans and their families.

• Metal band P.O.D. and record producer and former “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson will be featured at the third annual Mesa Music Festival in November. Jackson will be the keynote speaker Nov. 10 and P.O.D. will headline the festival with a free concert Nov. 11. Ticket information is available online.
