PHOENIX — Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport’s satisfaction score among “mega airports” was tied for the third-highest in North America, according to J.D. Power.
On a 1,000-point scale, Sky Harbor scored a 765, which was tied with McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas for the third-highest score behind Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport (767) and Orlando International Airport (778).
The average score for a mega airport was 746.
The report included descriptions of some of J.D. Power’s findings, which mentioned Sky Harbor by name for its use of animals to help passengers.
“Many airports have also found success in improving customer satisfaction through creative use of high-touch traveler outreach initiatives,” the article read. “Phoenix Sky Harbor, for example, deploys a team of therapy dogs for passengers to pet while they wait to board.”
Earlier this month, Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport launched a program that provides therapy dogs at no charge for travelers to pet, play with or talk to.
John Wayne Airport in Orange County, Calif. scored the highest satisfaction rating among “large airports,” and the “medium airport” ranking saw Sacramento International take the top spot.
