Southbound I-17 near downtown Phoenix reopens after crash

PHOENIX — A major highway near downtown Phoenix has officially reopened after a major crash caused it to shut down in the midst of rush hour, the Arizona Department of Transportation said.
The southbound Interstate 17 reopened just before 6 p.m. on Thursday. A crash involving a motorcyclist closed the highway at 16th Street around 4:30 p.m., causing major delays for commuters.

The northbound portion of the highway remained open.
The cause of the crash is unknown. It is also unknown how many people were involved and what their injuries were.
