Westbound US 60 reopens after deadly accident

PHOENIX — Authorities said a pedestrian was hit by a car and killed early Tuesday, the accident shutting down a Phoenix-area freeway.
A man walking on U.S. 60 West near Val Vista Drive was hit by several vehicles around 3 a.m. The accident then closed the freeway at Loop 202 two hours later.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety has asked drivers who were traveling on the freeway around 3 a.m. to check under their cars for damage related to the victim.
The freeway fully reopened around 9:30 a.m.

The man’s identity has not been released.
