Arizona highway troopers seize 300 pounds of marijuana after chase

PHOENIX — Arizona highway troopers on the ground and in a helicopter chased down and cornered two suspects in a truck filled with nearly 300 pounds of marijuana.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Arizona Department of Public Safety officers made the arrests last week near Tucson after a chase on Interstate 10.
Pursuit began after a driver in a pickup truck on the freeway near State Route 83 failed to stop for officers. A DPS helicopter tracked the truck and sent troopers in a vehicle to the spot where the truck had stopped, near Irvington and Palo Verde roads.
The two occupants of the truck tried to escape on foot. Authorities released no names or genders, only ages and nationalities of the suspects — a 31-year-old driver and a 24-year-old passenger, both American.
The marijuana was valued at about $150,000.
