PHOENIX — A behind-the-scenes look was released Friday for “Only the Brave,” a film about the fallen Granite Mountain Hotshots, that featured interviews with cast.

In the three-and-a-half minute Twitter video, several of the actors and Director Joseph Kosinski spoke about why it was important to make a movie about the 19 men who died fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire in 2013.

“It’s a tribute to them and a story of real heroes — you know, actual flesh and blood — who do these extraordinary things,” actress Jennifer Connelly, who plays the wife of hotshot leader Eric Marsh, said.

“They are behind-the-scenes heroes,” actor Taylor Kitsch said. “They just do their job never looking for credit,”

The film will tell the story of the fallen hotshots, from their training to their deaths outside of Yarnell.

“They put their lives on the line every day, in dangerous, unbelievable conditions,” producer Thad Luckinbill said.

To make the film as accurate as possible, Kosinski hired several former members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots and had the actors go through the actual training.

“The most important thing was authenticity,” he said in the trailer. “You can’t fake wildland firefighting.”

Actor Josh Brolin, who was a volunteer firefighter and lived in the Prescott area for a time, said the movie would have an impact on audiences.

“Every person who sees this movie is going to want to wave a little longer to every firefighter they see,” he said.

Brolin will play Marsh.

“Only the Brave” was scheduled to be released Oct. 20.
