The student band at Sunrise Mountain High School in Peoria is in need of a truck for its equipment, and one student is leading the march to make it happen.
The Pride of Sunrise — the marching band at SMHS — is holding a fundraiser with a goal of $10,000 in order to purchase and customize a truck.
“This project was initiated by Mark Crowley, one of our own band members,” the band’s website reads. “He is working towards being an Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. This is Mark’s Eagle Scout project.”
Eagle Scout Service Projects are a requirement to becoming an Eagle Scout, the highest possible rank among those in Boy Scouts of America.
Donations to the fundraiser are tax deductible, and those who donate more than $250 dollars will get their name or company on the back of the truck.
“Wouldn’t it be amazing to have this truck following the buses at every away football game and band competition for many years to come?”, the fundraiser’s page said.
