Fans surprise wrestler John Cena with heartfelt thank you notes in viral video

Aug 24, 2017, 10:47 AM

Get the tissues ready: This video of fans thanking WWE wrestler John Cena for being their role models is sure to make you tear up.

The video starts with Cena walking into a set and sitting in a director’s chair, with the caption, “John Cena loves to surprise his fans. Today, some of his fans have a surprise for him.”

A producer then hands Cena some thank you cards from his fans, which he then reads out loud. The cards detail very touching moments in these fans’ lives, when the words or actions of the professional wrestler brought them out of despair to a moment of peace, clarity and, overall, hope.

The last “thank you note” that Cena is handed is actually a video from Tyler Schweer, a young boy who says his “Never Give Up” wristband from Cena helped his mom stay positive until she was declared cancer-free.

The WWE wrestler may be tough on the outside, but the video made him visibly emotional.

But the surprises weren’t over yet: Tyler then busted out from behind a banner (a classic Cena move) because he, his mom and the rest of the fans were in another room watching Cena’s reactions.

The fans got the chance to personally thank Cena face-to-face, before awarding him with a “Life Changer” trophy.

The video was posted by cell phone provider Cricket Wireless on Monday and has amassed more than 1.7 million views since.

This wasn’t the first viral video Cena did with the company: In 2016, the wrestler appeared in a video titled, “The Unexpected John Cena,” in which he scared fans by jumping out from behind a banner. That video has nearly 40 million views.
