Authorities shut down Interstate 10 at State Route 51

PHOENIX — Authorities temporarily shut down part of a Phoenix freeway early Friday morning to talk down someone threatening to jump.
Interstate 10 East was closed at State Route 51 mini stack during rush hour. The Arizona Department of Public Safety said the person was near I-10 and Roosevelt Street.

Traffic was at a standstill heading south on Piestewa Freeway near Thomas Road.
The lanes were reopened around 6 a.m.
No other details were immediately available.
Shortly after that, a crash closed the HOV ramp on SR 51 to I-10.
