PHOENIX — The Valley of the Sun could be in for its second wet weekend in a row, the National Weather Service said Wednesday.
“When we do get that moisture back, we could be looking at the chance of rain starting Friday evening and thunderstorms, of course,” meteorologist Travis Wilson said. “That will be lasting it looks like through the weekend.”

There was a 10 to 20 percent chance of rain all weekend.
The mercury was expected to creep up before the storms returned. The weather service called for a high of 107 degrees on Thursday, while the forecast said highs should be just over 100 degrees this coming weekend.
Phoenix had an expected lull in monsoon activity this week after being pelted with storms that carried into the Monday morning commute.
Since June 15 — the official start of the monsoon season — the National Weather Service’s rain gauge at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has recorded 0.87 inches of rain.
“Normal for this time of year is about eight-tenths (of an inch),” Wilson said.
