PHOENIX — The state of Arizona saw more than $20 billion in spending from tens of millions of visitors in 2016, according to a report from Phoenix Business Journal.
The report stated that in 2016, 43 million visitors spent $21.2 billion in the state of Arizona — those numbers up 2.7 percent and one percent from the year before, respectively. Visitors from California, Illinois and New York were among the leading origins of travelers, the Journal wrote.
The Journal also stated that about 342,000 jobs are impacted by travel spending in Arizona, 184,200 of which are jobs in the travel industry directly generated by tourism spending.
A report from the Arizona Office of Tourism estimates that about $330 million in tax revenue alone has been generated from tourism spending so far this year through May.
