PHOENIX — The Phoenix Regional dispatch center was flooded with 911 calls from the Daisy Mountain and Black Canyon City areas after smoke prompted fire concerns in the region.
That was according to a spokesperson from the Phoenix Fire Department who said people were calling and asking if they needed to evacuate.
“The closest wildfire to that area is on I-17 at milepost 244, however strong winds are pushing smoke into those areas,” a message from the department read. “There is no threat of fire at this time.”
They added that anyone with health or respiratory concerns may leave the area at their discretion, but there was no evacuation order in place for that area.
The wildfire in question is likely a brush fire near Badger Springs. Drivers were encouraged to use caution while traveling on the I-17.
