Brush fire causes traffic backup on Highway 87 near Bush Highway

PHOENIX — Emergency crews battled a brush fire on Friday and traffic backed up for at least 10 miles, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The backup was on the northbound Highway 87, starting at the Bush Highway near Four Peaks Wilderness Area, northeast of the Phoenix metro area.
The SR-87 is the most direct route linking Phoenix and Payson, Arizona.
The backup ended later that night.
