Nearly 2 tons of marijuana seized from truck in California

SALTON CITY, Calif. (AP) — Border Patrol agents say they’ve found nearly two tons of marijuana in a truck stopped at a Southern California border station.

Authorities say a semi-truck was stopped Friday shortly after midnight at a Salton City checkpoint about 30 miles from the Mexican border.

After a dog indicated there might be drugs in the truck, it was inspected and pallets loaded with cardboard boxes full of packaged marijuana were found. The driver was arrested.

Authorities say the 3,575 pounds of pot had an estimated street value of $1.7 million.
