PHOENIX — Rock band U2 will brings its Joshua Tree world tour to metro Phoenix in late summer, it was announced Monday.

The Irish rockers will play the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale on Sept. 19, along with special guest Beck.

Tickets for the Phoenix show go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. A pre-sale will get underway Tuesday for U2.com subscribers.

The tour is a celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Grammy-winning “Joshua Tree” album.

They will play the entire album, which featured such hits as “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

It will be a homecoming of sorts for the band — the first Joshua Tree Tour opened at Arizona State University in the Activity Center (now Wells Fargo Arena) on April 2, 1987.

The tour also finished at ASU on Dec. 20 at Sun Devil Stadium

The film “Rattle and Hum” included footage from the Sun Devil Stadium show.

The Joshua Tree Tour 2017 kicked off in May in Canada. June dates include stops along the East Coast, Europe, Central and South Americas and back to the U.S. starting in September.

Other West Coast dates were Sept. 22 in San Diego.

We want to hear from you.
