Driver crashes into Paris police car, dies of injuries

Authorities in Paris said a driver who rammed his car into a police van Monday on the famed Champs-Elysees has died.
Police said his car was filled with explosives, which ignited. Witnesses said officers pulled the driver from the smoking vehicle. No one else was harmed.

Police said the 31-year-old man, whose name has not been released, had been flagged for extremism.
It was the second attack in Paris in several weeks.
In April, a man opened fire on officer a police officer on the Champs-Elysees, days before a presidential election, prompting an extensive security operation.
That suspect was killed by police.
France has been under a state of emergency after a string of deadly Islamic extremist attacks.
