PHOENIX — Phoenix is attracting people above 55 years old at a rate that’s among the fastest in the country, according to a report from Phoenix Business Journal.

The Journal’s report cites research from CoStar, which used statistics from the U.S. Census and Neustar. Those numbers show that the 55-and-up demographic increased by 309,606 people in Phoenix since 2010.

That growth ranks 9th in the country.

As those in the Valley may well know, the Phoenix metro area is home to retirement communities like Sun Lakes, Sun City and Sun City West.

Phoenix finished just ahead of Philadelphia (No. 10) on the list and right behind Washington D.C. (No. 8). Other top cities or metro areas included South Florida (No. 7), New York City (No. 3) and Los Angeles (No. 1).

We want to hear from you.
