SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) — The granddaughter of the late televangelists Jan and Paul Crouch has been awarded $2 million by California jurors who found that Jan Crouch acted outrageously when the girl reported a sexual assault by one of their employees.
Twenty-four-year-old Carra Crouch says she was assaulted when she was 13 by a 30-year-old employee of her grandparents’ Trinity Broadcasting Network. The lawsuit said that after Carra Crouch told Jan Crouch that she had been groped and kissed against her will and possibly drugged and raped in an Atlanta hotel room, Jan Crouch blamed her and hid the incident.
The jury in Santa Ana awarded her $1 million Monday for past trauma and $1 million for future emotional damage.
Trinity’s lawyer, Michael King, says the organization disagrees with the verdict and will appeal.
