PHOENIX — After opening a contest to design a new doughnut flavor last month, Bashas’ Supermarkets has announced 13 finalists ahead of National Donut Day.
The grocery store chain said it received more than 100 entries for its second-annual Donut Flavor Craze Contest, which allowed kids ages 6 through 18 to come up with a new flavor. The 13 finalists were selected based on criteria including “creativity, flavor combination and individuality,” according to a statement.
Bashas’ said the winning doughnut will be selected on May 30, just a few days prior to National Donut Day, which is on June 2. Ten percent of the proceeds on Donut Day will go to The Salvation Army.
