PHOENIX — A record high for Cinco de Mayo of 108 degrees was set on Friday in Phoenix, but just two days later it was down to 74 degrees on Sunday, a record drop in May over a three-day period according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service notes a drop of 20 degrees or more over the course of three days has happened just 24 times since 1896 in Phoenix. The 34-degree mark is just the second time a drop of 30 degrees or more has happened in May over a three-day period, with the other coming in 2008.
As noted earlier in the week, cooler temperatures were on the way and would continue through the next week. While Sunday didn’t bring many showers to the Valley, Monday and Tuesday are expected to be the best chance of seeing showers and thunderstorms in Phoenix.
