PHOENIX — Arizona’s Slide Rock near Sedona is a popular destination for those who know the Grand Canyon State well, but it garnered national attention when MSN called it one of the nation’s best swimming holes.
“Slide Rock is named for its slippery creek bottom that visitors slide down along with the natural water chute,” the ranking read. “It’s also a great place to wade around and soak up the sunshine.”
The area has been named one of the best in the U.S. before. It was opened and dedicated in 1987, according to Slide Rock State Park’s website. The slide is 80 feet long and gets its slippery quality from the algae that grows on the rocks.
The park is about 15 minutes away from Sedona by car.
