PHOENIX — A promise is a promise and singer Janet Jackson is keeping one she made a year ago: she’s going back on tour after several delays and will stop in Phoenix in the fall.

Jackson posted a video Monday night announcing the tour. “I’m continuing my tour as I promised,” the 50-year-old new mother said. “I’m so excited, you guys.”

State of the World tour will play downtown’s Talking Stick Resort Arena on Sept. 21. Ticketmaster listed general public tickets would go on sale Friday at 10 a.m.

Presales were set to begin Wednesday.

Jackson changed the name of the tour from Unbreakable, the name of her album which was released in 2015, adding the name had nothing to do with politics.

Maybe she’s trying to change its luck. The ambitious 75-city U.S. tour, her first in five years, has run into scheduling issues since December 2015, a couple of months after it originally launched.

She halted the tour citing upcoming but unspecified surgery. It was delayed again last April, when she said she and husband were planning a family.

Jackson and her soon-to-be-ex-husband Wissam Al Mana eventually had a son, Eissa, in January.

This will be the seventh tour for the youngest of the performing Jackson family. The tour will kick off Sept. 7 in Lafayette, Louisiana, and end Dec. 17 in Atlanta.

We want to hear from you.
