A robber who’s impatient and possibly armed is, “not a good combination,” Phoenix Police Department Detective Kim Neis said.

It was just after midnight, on April 2, 2017, when a man walked into the Circle K near Seventh Avenue and Baseline Road. He demanded money and escorted the clerk to the register with what was believed to be a gun at the clerk’s back.

“He seemed to be verbally forceful to get the clerk to open the register,” Neis said. “When the clerk was not taking the money out fast enough for the suspect, he shoved the clerk aside and grabbed the rest of the money.”

He took off in an SUV. The man is described as being in his 20s, tall and slim with a goatee and was wearing an eye-catching, bright blue sweatshirt.

Next, a heartbreaking scene for officers responding to the busy area of 23rd Avenue and Thomas Road about 8:45 a.m. on March 31, 2017.

“When the officers arrived, they found a dog that had obviously been dragged in the roadway and she still had the rope tied around her legs,” Sgt. Jamie Rothschild said.

The boxer-pit bull mix puppy was dead on the scene. Investigators said, at that time of the morning, someone had to have seen what happened and they need those leads.
