KTAR News 92.3 FM wins three Edward R. Murrow Awards

PHOENIX — KTAR News 92.3 FM took home three regional Edward R. Murrow Awards, it was announced Tuesday morning.
“Remarkable journalism is being done every day in newsrooms across this country,” Radio Television Digital News Associaton Chair Vincent Duffy said in a press release.
“We’re proud to recognize the most outstanding ways journalists are keeping the public informed, holding the powerful accountable and enhancing the quality of life in their communities.”
KTAR News won awards for overall excellence, breaking news coverage and news documentary.
The overall excellence award pertains to how the entire newsroom works to bring both listeners and readers the stories they care about on a daily basis.
The breaking news award was given for our team coverage of a high-speed chase that happened on March 24, 2016. The driver, later identified as Joshua Monigold, blew through red lights and drove on the wrong side of the road before he hit a median on Interstate 10.
The final award, news documentary, was awarded specifically to reporter Corbin Carson for “Locked Up Arizona,” his in-depth look at the state’s prison system.
