Phoenix officially falls a degree shy of first triple-digit day on Sunday

PHOENIX — Officially, it didn’t happen. Not quite.
The Valley’s first official 100-degree day didn’t happen in Phoenix over the weekend, and it appears that it might not for the next couple of days.
The National Weather Service said Sky Harbor Airport only reached 99 degrees on Sunday by 2:30 p.m. and never ticked into triple-digit territory. Surrounding areas, however, did hit the 100-degree mark.
As for making it officially the season for Arizonans to wave farewell to enjoyable weather, a low-pressure drop will also drop temperatures heading into the work week.
In 2016, Phoenix recorded its first 100-degree day on May 4.
