This year, the 121st annual Boston Marathon encompassed more than 26,000 people running across 26 miles — and 385 yards — of city streets.
As you could imagine, this situation does not make crossing the streets easy. But the genius organizers at the Boston Marathon have it all figured out.
Thanks to a YouTube user named B.O., spectators can see just exactly how race organizers allow crowds to pass through Beacon Street without a single injury.
This year, Kenyan policewoman Edna Kiplagat won her Boston Marathon debut with an unofficial time of 2 hours, 21 minutes and 53 seconds.
Fellow Kenyan Geoffrey Kirui outran Galen Rupp of the U.S. to take the men’s race in an official time of 2 hours, 9 minutes and 37 seconds. It was also Kirui’s first time running the marathon.
